Foundations of Christ - Part 4

    The Reconciling power of christ

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all thing have become new.  Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.  2 Cor. 5:17-21 (NKJV)

In Hebrews 10 we are taught of the incredible power of Christ's blood to enable us to come boldly to the throne of grace and that we can draw near to God our Father (Heb. 10:22).  This is the work of reconciliation.

We were once strangers, aliens, and outsiders of everything about God.  We were totally ignorant and living in the dark.  We had no connection to God, even if we went to church and said prayers, and listened to messages from the Bible.  It wasn't until our hearts were opened by the Lord Himself to understand, (this is grace) the revelation of Christ and His work, and the power of His blood, that we could then be reconciled to God.  Our sins had kept us apart, but no longer, as the shed blood of Jesus is sufficient for all sins for all time.

Now after having been reconciled, we, too, have a ministry of reconciliation to the lost.  The gospel must be shared for men and women to hear truth and for grace to be applied.  But first we must know beyond a shadow of a doubt our true state of total reconciliation with our Father.  It is unequivocal and unchanging.  Our strength to deliver this truth depends on our faith.

Not only do we have the right to offer reconciliation to the lost, we have the privilege of living in a reconciled state with our brothers and sisters, regardless of offenses that may have separated us.  It's reunion time!
